Clothes and jewellery

Clothes

The Nursery is a working environment. It is important for your child to wear comfortable and practical clothing. We encourage the use of school uniform and suggest grey “jogging bottoms”, a school sweat shirt and/or t-shirt (available from the welfare room between 9 a.m. and 9.30 a.m. on Tuesday and 3 p.m. and 3.15 p.m. on Thursday – sweatshirt £10, T-shirt £4.50, jogging bottoms £8) and shoes with “velcro” fastening. Some activities in the Nursery may cause a mess, e.g. painting and water play, and aprons are provided. However, it is important that the children do not feel restricted due to anxiety about possible spillage on their clothes.

Please enable your child to cope with dressing and undressing by her/himself. Clothes with simple fastenings will enable your child to dress independently, at Nursery. Children will be playing inside and outside, and they will need a coat (unless it is obvious that the weather is very hot and likely to stay that way) and a hat in hot weather. Please mark clothes and shoes clearly with your child’s name so that they do not get mixed or lost.

Jewellery

For safety reasons, NO jewellery is allowed. Most jewellery (including earrings) can be a cause of concern with respect to injury in some curriculum experiences such as P.E. Therefore it is for Health and Safety reasons that we ask you to be aware of the need to leave jewellery at home.
