School Values

  • The prime purpose of the school is to promote learning leading to the fullest development of the individual.
  • All learners are entitled to high quality education appropriate to their needs and interests enabling them to contribute with confidence to their own future development and to that of the community.
  • Learners’ rights are more likely to be realized if their environment is happy, safe, clam and secure.
  • Active participation of home, school and the community is crucial to the learning process.

Teachers’ Aims

  • To have a thorough and up to date knowledge of the subjects they teach.
  • To plan lessons and to use a range of teaching strategies to meet the needs of the children.
  • To monitor children’s progress, assess, keep records, set targets for learning and liaise with parents/carers.
  • To challenge and support children by inspiring trust and confidence, building team commitment, engaging and motivating children and taking positive action to improve children’s learning.
  • To develop their own professional expertise and to make an active contribution to the life of the school.

Curriculum Aims

  • To help children develop lively, enquiring minds, acquire the ability to reason and to communicate, to concentrate on a task, to develop physical skills and to become self-motivated, independent learners.
  • To help children acquire skills and knowledge relevant to life in a changing world.
  • To help children take responsibility for their own actions.
  • To give children access to a broad and balanced curriculum including the requirements of the National Curriculum.
  • To encourage respect for the environment, for spiritual and moral values and the rights of others.
  • To help children understand the world in which they live and the rights of others.
  • To help children understand and appreciate human achievements and aspirations in all their diversity and richness.
